DMC's client was interested in switching to Office 365 from Gmail after realizing that Office 365 offered 50 GB mailboxes for each user. DMC used Migration Wiz to move each users’ emails, calendar, contacts, to-do lists, etc. from Google Apps for Business to O365. Migration Wiz was used to overcome challenges encountered during previous migration attempts with built-in Microsoft tools.
Two unique migration issues DMC resolved concerned certain users utilizing labels within Gmail to categorize their emails. The solution included separating the users who flagged emails with labels from those who did not. The other issue DMC helped resolve was a subscription level conflict between their pilot Office 365 subscription and the subscription their entire user base would be enrolled in. DMC worked with Microsoft to deprovision the Office 365 tenant (which wiped all data) and then reprovision with the desired subscription level. This was a 5-7 business day process.
After the successful email migration, DMC was called upon to fix issues with user profiles in Active Directory not syncing properly with Office 365. DMC authored a power shell script to correctly sync users to Office 365 and reinstalled the directory sync process. To fully resolve the issue, DMC collaborated directly with Microsoft’s engineering team through Microsoft Signature Cloud Support, which is available exclusively to Cloud Certified Partners.
