Every year, each DMC office is empowered to host a weekend of fun in their part of the country and attract invite visitors from other office locations. The Yearly Office Event (YOE) is a great opportunity to spend time with DMC teammates who work all around the country.
We usually find a big house or even two in a location within driving distance of the office and plan a bunch of fun activities. DMC Houston and our new Dallas office combined events this year. They invited everyone to join them in Austin for a river float and as much adventuring as we could handle.
Welcome to Houston
On our first night in Houston, many of us went to watch the Astros play baseball at Minute Maid Park.
Skeet Shooting
The next day, we headed out to American Shooting Centers for some skeet shooting. Ryan gave us a lesson in gun safety to get things started.
Everyone took turns practicing their aim. A storm was rolling in and the weather stayed pretty cool for Texas.
BBQ, Two-Stepping, and Turtle Racing
For dinner, we had our first round of BBQ from a local joint named the Goode Company.
When we were stuffed with all the food we could eat, we split up for two different Lone Star State activities. Some of us headed out to two-stepping at Wild West and others went turtle racing at Little Woodrow's.
At two-stepping, the experienced dancers shared their knowledge and taught new dance moves. Soon we were all out on the floor.
Cliff Jumping at Pace Bend
The next morning, after DMC's monthly company meeting, we drove toward Austin in groups. One group headed to Deep Eddy's vodka distillery and the Blue Bell ice cream Little Creamery for tours and tastings. The rest of us went to Pace Bend for cliff jumping and relaxing.
Check out some drone footage that DMC Houston engineer Dillan Kurtin filmed of our cliff jumping adventure!
Austin Oasis
Once we made it to our amazing digs in Austin, we ate more delicious BBQ from Salt Lick and lounged in the pool. One of the best parts of the trip is when we get to cook for each other! This breakfast crew served up some yummy morning tacos.
River Float
On Saturday, everyone put on about a million layers of sunscreen and hopped onto a party bus to the river float.
We spent the day floating, hanging out, and taking in the natural surroundings.
Heading Home
After we left our house in Austin for good, there was still time for a little more fun. So, we went to Rohan Meadery and made friends with the local chickens.
A special thanks to our Texas offices for being great hosts! DMC is always having fun. Check out more about our company culture here! Interested in joining us? Explore our careers page.
