My first week at DMC was a whirlwind of training and new faces. That Monday morning, I arrived with seven other DMCers from around the country to begin ramping up.
Being the only member of the Microsoft Consulting Services team to start that week, my training differed slightly from the rest of the group. Nonetheless, everyone’s opinion has been the same. DMC runs like a well-oiled machine.
What to Expect on Arrival
From the very beginning of our onboarding process, no detail was forgotten. With everything from fully configured and set up laptops to key cards, parking passes, welcome lunches, welcome parties, and workstations complete with mugs full of pens, DMC was prepped for our arrival.
We happened to start the same day as the solar eclipse, so we had an extra special welcome lunch with the entire Chicago office on DMC's rooftop deck.
Every new employee gets to choose a welcome party event and invite the entire office plus a guest for each attendee. Our welcome party ended up being at Second City for their show The Winner… of Our Discontent. After a catered dinner at the office, we headed over for an evening of laughs.
Training for the Future
Throughout the week, our schedules were full of classes, team meetings, and one-on-one training.
We were immediately welcomed and felt like valued members of the team, constantly surrounded by some of the smartest people in the industry who were willing to drop their work at a moment’s notice to help answer any questions we had and show us around DMC.
All in all, week one was a huge success! There was even time for ping pong in the DMC kitchen.
DMC has a hardworking, innovative, and collaborative culture and I am excited to see what all our futures look like here in the months and years to come.
