Chicago LabVIEW User Group Meeting Hosted at DMC
DMC hosted another great LabVIEW User Group Meeting at our Chicago office last week. This year’s agenda included a recap of the recent NIWeek 2013 with personal anecdotes from the DMC team and a peek at new features and capabilities of LabVIEW 2013.
The Chicago LabVIEW User Group is a community of National Instruments users, partners, and customers in the Chicago area. The meeting at DMC had another fantastic turnout with 22 local LabVIEW users. National Instruments was well represented by Kalin Taskov, Al Rudnick, Chris Nelson, and Ben Don.
The main event consisted of presentations and hands-on exercises on LabVIEW Web Technologies. We covered a brief history of NI Web Technologies (mostly disambiguation and a short history of previous techniques), and also discussed the client/server model, communication layers, and the basic functions of Web Services. A three-part hands-on section covered the basics of generating server data, making this data presentation worthy, and creating a client structure in LabVIEW. We also covered the abilities of other applications and platforms as a client, such as web browsers, iOS, Android, .NET/other, and NI Data Dashboard.
Following last year’s tradition, a rooftop social event followed the presentations and hands-on activities. We capped off the event with perfect weather, food and beer, and a few exciting games of bags, and everyone had a wonderful time.
Chicago LabVIEW User Group presentation materials from the event can be downloaded from the user community board.
