Being the lone DMC Mom, I wanted to plan an opportunity for DMC kids to take advantage of one of the cool DMC sponsored activities. The perfect child friendly event: Disney on Ice at the United Center! DMC employees, spouses and 10 DMC kids met in Chicago to watch the Disney princesses tell their stories while gliding over a stage of ice. We watched Ariel (The Little Mermaid) fall in love with a human, Belle (Beauty and the Beast) be enchanted by the Beast, Rapunzel (Tangled) discover that she was the long lost princess, and Merida (Brave) mature to understand her Mother and the responsibilities of being a princess. I enjoyed singing along to all the Disney songs but the most special part was watching my eldest daughter, Avani (age 6), glow during her favorite scene when the lanterns were released into the air in honor of the princess. Both kids and adults were completed entranced by the beautiful stage design and wonderful songs to make for a fantastic performance.
After the show, a few families went out for pizza at Salerno’s Pizzeria so that the kids could have a chance to get to know each other. The parents were able to chat on one side of the table while the children had fun running around a nearly empty restaurant. The kids had a blast and passed out 5 minutes into the car ride home. Thanks DMC!
