DMC Joins LabVIEW User Group Chicago

Last month I attended the inaugural meeting of the Chicago LabVIEW User Group.  A group of about thirty fellow LabVIEW users gathered in Schaumburg for the first event.

Traditionally, User Groups hearken back to the early tech days of subsets of passionate, like-minded fans trading ideas and discussions around a specific product or technology.  Sponsored by National Instruments, the User Group’s aim is to bring the LabVIEW community together to foster interaction and discussion around the range of LabVIEW applications.

The primary presentation included a good discussion of new features in LabVIEW 2010 as well as design patterns in LabVIEW. Our group encompassed users from a range of skillsets, from intermediate up to architects, and from a variety of industries.

The LabVIEW User Group is scheduled to meet on a quarterly basis.  My hope for the group as it grows is to experience more of a social and discussion-based element.  Aside from the general presentation, I feel breaking into smaller groups to discuss user-generated content and exchange ideas would be valuable.
