DMC Presents at the 2010 Siemens Automation Summit
What was the best part of my trip to Charlotte, NC last week? - Watching the Blackhawks Stanley Cup game 6 on a massive screen in the NASCAR hall of fame after the Siemens award ceremony. Very surreal... and totally awesome!
Yes, Siemens really knows how to put on a great event.
Last week was the 2010 Siemens Automation Summit, held in beautiful Charlotte, NC. The Siemens Automation Summit is a conference that specifically focused on the end users of Siemens automaton products. It is a great event for users to check out new products and innovative solutions. It also gives them a chance to spend some quality time with many Siemens hardware and software experts as well as Siemens Solution Partners (like DMC).
Siemens presented some outstanding awards to their customers for innovative uses of Siemens products during a reception at the NASCAR hall of fame. One notable award was for a company called Magnetecs that is developing a medical device that uses a focused magnetic field to guide a catheter during heart surgery. When this technology gets approved it is supposed to greatly reduce the risks associated with heart surgery. This is really cutting-edge technology, all controlled by a high reliability Siemens PLC.
I gave a presentation at the summit on a solution that we developed for Siemens Water Technologies for their mobile de-ionized water trailers. The presentation highlighted the use of Siemens new S7-1200 PLC combined with a Siemens MD720-3 Sinaut Cellular modem for a complete control and telemetry solution. The presentation was very well received by the attendees and sparked a lot of great questions and dialog following the presentation.
DMC was very pleased to have been invited to the summit by Siemens and we look forward to next year.
