DMC Listed Among Chicago's Coolest Offices
DMC was recently listed among Chicago's coolest offices on the Crain's Chicago Business website. According to Crain's, a cool office is "a well-designed workplace that's a good representation of the business and allows employees to work comfortably and efficiently."
Industrial Elements
When DMC expanded our Bucktown headquarters into the neighboring space of a former fitness warehouse in early 2019, we wanted to uncover the building’s industrial bones and modernize the space. We worked with 2 Point Perspective and RAW Building Concepts to highlight the building’s vintage elements including exposed brick walls, concrete columns, a metal sliding door, and original skylights.
A minimal palette allows the building’s unique features to shine, while modern finishes like industrial light fixtures and geometric backsplashes accent the setting as well as DMC’s work in industrial automation.
Built for Collaboration
The expansion was built with collaboration in mind, offering a variety of work environments, including an airy, modular conference room that fits all 92 Chicago employees, glass partition workstations, conference rooms with custom oak tables, comfy collaboration rooms, a lounge area, and a lab space devoted to automation testing.
The bright, modern kitchen is a natural gathering place, especially around the kegerator. Employees can also be found on the rooftop deck eating lunch or hosting a gardening happy hour where we compost kitchen waste and harvest tomatoes, eggplant, and more.
Reflecting DMC’s engineering ethos, the space is pragmatic with polish… and personality. Employees can opt to reach the new space from the previous office using the stairs or the spiral tube slide!
